2016 Food Fight is Excited to Announce a Partnership With the Capital Area Food Bank

If you would like to help with the food collection for Capital Area Food Bank at the Expo Center during the 2016 Food Fight event, please send an email to and you will be contacted.

The leadership at 2016 Food FIght recognizes that there are hunger related issues right here in Northern Virginia and throughout the Washington, DC area.  In fact, according to the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) 700,000 residents are at risk of hunger. we want to serve those in need in own backyard as well.  With this understanding and appreciation we have partnered with the Capital Area Food Bank to collect and distrubte food to the local food pantries as part of 2016 Food Fight!

We are asking everyone that comes out to pack food to bring one or more items from CAFB's Most Wanted list with an emphasis on healthy food:

  • Canned Salmon, Tuna or Chicken

  • Low Sodium, No Salt Added Canned Vegetables

  • Canned Fruit in Light Syrup (or its own juices)

  • Brown and White Rice, Pasta, Mac and Cheese

  • Hot and Cold Cereal e.g. oatmeal, Corn Flakes, Raisin Bran, Cheerios

  • Canned or Dry Beans

  • Healthy Snacks e.g. apple sauce cups, raisins, granola bars

  • Peanut Butter

  • Juices - all sizes including juice boxes.

What an amazing opportunity to provide hope globally and locally at the same time!! Please join us in helping to turn hunger into hope.

The Capital Area Food Bank is the largest organization in the Washington metro area working to solve hunger and its companion problems: chronic undernutrition, heart disease, and obesity. By partnering with 444 community organizations in DC, MD, and VA, as well as delivering food directly into hard to reach areas, the CAFB is helping 540,000 people each year get access to good, healthy food.
