Accessibility

WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY

In addition to ample accessible parking, the Dulles Expo Center and 2018 Food Fight are wheelchair accessible. There are Family/Companion restrooms located in all 3 areas of the building.

SEATED TASKS

We reserve one of our most important tasks for volunteers who wish to remain seated. Our bag labelling station is ideal for attendees who want to sit in wheelchairs or folding chairs. This is a vital step in the packing process and entails putting FMSC labels on each bag before it is filled with food.

Seated volunteers can also participate at a packing cell by weighing and sealing bags.

LIFTING & MOVING

Warehouse and supplies volunteers should be able to lift boxes and move quickly between packing cells and the supplies station.

Packing cell tasks, box making, and labelling do not require extended movement or heavy lifting.

MUSIC & NOISE

Due to the warehouse atmosphere and high-energy nature of the event, it can be very loud in the packing room. While the music played is within OSHA required decibel levels, it is similar to a concert or sporting event. We are happy to provide earplugs.

WHAT IF I WANT TO CHANGE TASKS?

That's ok! If you start in one position and it's not working for you, let a Certified Volunteer in an orange shirt know and they'll help you find a position that works for you.
